"Discovering Hzing: Pswagi Temahahoi" (2022) is part of Ciwas Tahos’ ongoing project "Finding Pathways to Temahahoi", developed from 2020 to the present. Centered on "Temahahoi"—an Atayal oral story of a "women’s village"—the project mobilizes experimental making and embodied sensing to reclaim marginalized queer community and belonging, and to trace the artist’s return to ancestral ties.
"Temahahoi" describes women living deep in Taiwan’s mountains, communicating with bees, and conceiving through wind. Ciwas Tahos activates this oral narrative to imagine life beyond heteronormative confines and to evoke kinship among dispersed "Temahahoi" descendants. The work also parallels ecological and queer marginalization, linking climate-driven bee loss to the historical erasure of minoritized bodies and spaces.
