In her first solo exhibition in Taiwan, Millett presents Power Unearthed as an inquiry into the entanglements of power, the body, and nature. The double-sided textile Fire Power distills this focus: from a distance it resembles a floral tapestry sewn from 1930s vintage fabric, but up close the flower centers resolve into spent bullet casings. Turned over, the casings form a radiating core from which vivid red feathers bloom, invoking the violence of the Jim Crow era.
Two monumental textiles made with Jenny Hurth — Moon Medicine and You will always be the Ground, Sea, and Galaxy — extend a lineage of collective women's craft and patchwork associated with Faith Ringgold. In Moon Medicine, fabrics used for surgical scrubs and workwear are dismantled and reassembled; under direct flash, lunar phases and reflective strips resembling mineral strata emerge. Shown alongside works on extractive mining, the piece reads as a stark elegy for marginalized communities made to bear the costs of resource plunder.
