"Komorebi" at the St. Regis in Venice

Works by Zheng Chongbin are on view in Komorebi at The St. Regis, Venice.

Curated by Marta Cereda,  the projec uses luxury hospitality as a perceptual, almost cinematic space.

The title comes from the Japanese word describing sunlight filtering through leaves. Here, however, light becomes narrative material, immersive experience, architectural language. In dialogue with the Biennale Arte 2026 theme In Minor Keys, Komorebi brings together artists, design and Venetian craftsmanship without drawing strict boundaries between disciplines. Works by contemporary artists coexist with custom-made Murano glass pieces produced by Berengo Studio, in a continuous oscillation between installation and interior design.

The result is a space that does not simply host artworks, but constantly shifts state: bronze, neon, glass, reflections and shadows transform the hotel’s ground floor into a sequence of emotional thresholds overlooking the Grand Canal. And while Venice continues to question its relationship with global tourism, Komorebi operates precisely in the city’s most ambiguous and contemporary territory — where art, branding and lifestyle stop competing and begin speaking the same language.
