Artist Talk
Lam Tung Pang in Conversation with Dr. Lu Pei-Yi and Dr. Vivian Ting
25 October, 3pm

Lam Tung Pang (b. 1978, Hong Kong) is a self-exile, Hong Kong diaspora artist based in Vancouver since 2022. Traversing between the media of painting, site-specific installation, sound and video, Lam’s playful practice arises from a curious imagination that recombines traditional iconography and vernacular elements, innovating with a myriad of found objects and images to form new practices that are often experimental in nature. In his allegorical landscapes, journeys and sceneries become essential passages connecting time and distance, longing and loss.

Lam received his BFA from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and his MFA from Central Saint Martins in London. He is the recipient of the Asian Cultural Council Fellowship in 2012. His works are collected by the San Francisco Asian Art Museum, United States; Los Angeles County Museum of Art, United States; Hong Kong Museum of Art; M+ Museum, Hong Kong, amongst others.
