This year marks ACC Hong Kong's milestone 40th anniversary. Established in 1986, the Hong Kong office was created by a group of like-minded art enthusiasts to offer more personal and professional development opportunities to artists and arts professionals.
Puzzle the Song presents a bird assembled from plywood panel fragments. Seams, screws, and shifting passages of color remain visible, concealing, rather than revealing, the work's construction. The bird appears to sing into an open space, its call extending beyond the frame.
Created after Lam Tung Pang's family moved to Canada, the work reflects on movement, adaptation, and the making of new attachments. The bird inhabits a space between places.
The constructed surface of the portrait suggests that identity is never fixed but consistently formed through new experiences and change. Like our sense of self or belonging, who we are will always remain fluid, shaped by movement, memory, and the places we carry with us.
