When Tomorrow is Forgotten
Date: 3 October – 22 November 2026
Venue: MoCA Taipei, NO.39 Chang-An West Road Taipei, Taiwan 103
Curated by Huang Yi-Hsuan and Junghoon Kim, When Tomorrow is Forgotten departs from the common reality of a super-aged population faced by Taiwan and Korea. The exhibition explores how the shifting demographics will reconstruct life experiences, caregiving networks, and collective memories. When the elderly inevitably become a dominant group in the society, the way memories and experiences pass down change with how the society extends its own continuity. The exhibition features works from six artists from Taiwan and Korea, aiming to connect the reality and imaginations of the future.
Chiu Wei-Hsiang created In the Wake of the Wind (2024) in the early stage of his job at a care institution. He focuses on the state of objects after the life around it has passed. Just as the wheelchairs in the painting, they remained in use by different people despite their coming and going. Besides functioning as assistive tools, they are also proof of life's existence. Wind is a metaphor for the flux of time, and the artist gazes at the boundary of life that each individual must face.
