This year's residency gathers artists working with mental health in its distress and vitality. Through conversations, seminars, studio research, and encounters across Delhi, residents are developing new ways of thinking with these concerns.
Map of Departure is an extension of Wong's previous work on Chart of Inner Landscape. This current iteration is a self-portrait body map turned into a speculative somatic infrastructure for healing, drawing on the Taoist 'Neijing Tu' (Chart of Inner Landscape) and the Indian Subtle Body (Tantric Anatomy). Rather than defining the body as mere biological tissue, both traditions view the interior self as an alchemical cosmos of energy transformation, where systemic trauma manifests as blockages of Qi, or Prana.
Cloud Calligraphy is a wall painting that reads as both abstract body and script. Inspired by Taoist cloud calligraphy, its smoke-like curves form a private alphabet, treating rumination as weather to be observed rather than erased.
1.28s begins with a workshop exercise of drawing with both hands while the eyes are closed, producing hearts and crosses that resemble fences, immediate and childlike. The drawing is then translated through AI into broken bamboo, recalling kite-making. The title refers to the time moonlight takes to reach Earth, so that seeing is always slightly after the fact.
