Cheng Ming Night #5: Chiu Wei-Hsiang's Artist Sharing
Date: 9 September 2026, 7:00 – 9:00 PM
Venue: 3/F, Cheng Ming Building, New Asia College, The Chinese University of Hong Kong
Cheng Ming Night is a student-initiated, informal exchange organized by CUHK's Department of Fine Arts, featuring periodic sharings, talks, seminars, and screenings with postgraduate students and art-world guests.
For Cheng Ming Night #5, Taiwanese artist Chiu Wei-Hsiang will share insights from his practice. He graduated from the Department of Painting and Calligraphy Arts at the National Taiwan University of Arts in 2020. Due to family responsibilities, he manages a nursing home full-time and only paints at night, working swiftly on Xuan paper and canvas to capture everyday objects and the immediacy of memory.
Against the backdrop of the Taoyuan Aerotropolis and land expropriation in Dayuan, Taoyuan, Chiu staged one-day solo exhibitions, The House (2023) and Root (2024), in his childhood home before and after its demolition. In 2025, he presented lâi-chē-chē at the Fotoaura Institute of Photography in Tainan.
