Musquiqui Chihying: A Life of Navigation

Exhibition period: 25 August - 18 October, 2026

Venue: HENI Project Space, Hayward Gallery, London SE1 8XX, UK

This multimedia exhibition by Taiwanese artist Musquiqui Chihying brings together four works that probe urban life and technological progress through an imaginative, idiosyncratic, and provocative practice. Titled A Life of Navigation, it opens with early works that register the pressures of fast-paced, high-stress city living. Pairing The Jog (2014) and The Toyota (2015) with newly produced video installations, the exhibition casts a playful yet critical eye on artificial intelligence and gaming culture, as well as the growing tension between manual labour and automation. Through humour and performativity, the new works foreground Chihying's recent interest in the rarely discussed contemporary colonial attitudes embedded in technological advancement and their implications for social structures and the human condition.
