"Sparkle! Journal of a City Foot Soldier" at Oil Street Art Space

Wu Jiaru and Fabian Gutscher's Walking Together Alone (2018) is on view at Oil Street Art Space, as part of the group exhibition Sparkle! Journal of a City Foot Soldier.

There is so much more to walking than walking!

— Jan Gehl

Inspired by City of Glass written by Paul Auster, Sara Wong selected artistic and landscape or urban study projects to build a narrative from the perspective of a city walker. Through works of art, literature and researches, visitors are invited to explore freely in the diverse approaches and perspectives of city and urbanism thinking, subsequently into a wider dimension of reflections about city and city living as a modern urban dweller.

Walking Together Alone can be understood as a long-term-performance. It is presented as an integration of a reactive sound installation and several participatory events during its exhibited period in Hong Kong. Starting with the ideas of walking and human connection, the piece is designed to have individuals in different places to walk together simultaneously. Gutscher (in Switzerland) and Wu (in Hong Kong) will conduct walks together during the exhibition.
