Floating World

Dates: 19 July - 12 October 2025

Location: Guangdong Times Museum, Huangbianbei Road, Guangzhou

The exhibition “Floating World” brings together three collaborative projects by artists Tang Kwong San and Yuen Nga Chi—Somewhere in Time (2019), Landing on the East (2021), and Xisha Nantian (2025). These works reflect their ongoing engagement with field research and visual creation, in which Hong Kong’s archipelagos and the Pearl River Delta’s complex waterways echo one another. Within this fluid world, images, landscapes, and memories are interwoven, giving rise to new ways of seeing from within the fissures of history and borders.

Tang Kwong San’s multimedia practice incorporates graphite drawing, oil painting, objects, photography, and video installations to trace intergenerational history—both personal and social. Through recontextualizing relics, found artefacts, and family heirlooms, Tang explores the intimate and emotional connections of belonging and loss.

Yuen Nga Chi recently focused on the subject of captive animals from historical, geographical, and political perspectives, demonstrating the relationships and similarities between these conditions and human experiences. In addition, she has begun to study the overlapping histories of various countries that extend from marine resources.

Chris Wan Feng's recent curatorial practice has explored shared themes of diaspora, displacement, and identity in our turbulent world through experimental curatorial methods and case studies of Hong Kong artists.
