Adia Millett's Warrior's Portal is a commissioned work for the Chase Center Art Collection's "Homegrown Series."
The Homegrown Series was introduced in 2023 as a platform to showcase local artists, their communities, and their bodies of work.
Warrior's Portal by Adia Millett stitches together fabrics that represent the diverse array of Bay Area community members. From reflective safety vests, African Dutch wax fabric, Mexican serape fabric, to camouflage fatigues; the color pallet, patterns, and textures suggest strength and vibrancy. The three panels embedded with five abstracted warrior’s jersey circles, invite you into an Afro-futuristic-inspired playground.
