This is a special exhibition on Chinese calligraphy - the art of writing - that straddles the traditional and the contemporary. As part of the "Rong Bao Zhai and Artists Series" at Rong Bao Zhai Guangzhou, this year's theme is “The Significance of Writing,” featuring works written and created by contemporary Chinese artists. These works include both calligraphy in the traditional sense, as well as graphic works by contemporary artists who work with the imagery and concepts of Chinese characters. The development of calligraphy and the art of writing has always been highly connected with society, faith, and spirituality. It accentuates the spirit of a culture throughout its transformations. This exhibition juxtaposes China's modern calligraphic changes with contemporary graphic innovations in a complete exhibition space, creating a dialogue between China's long writing and calligraphic traditions, each with its own style.
