Roland Biermann's Stations 3 is on view at the University of Stirling in September 2026, concurrent to the 22nd Biennial ISRLC Conference.
Stations 3 was shortlisted for Liverpool Sculpture Prize 2024. It is part of Biermann’s Stations series of sculptures, which started in 2015. The title Stations, on the one hand, refers to the Stations of the Cross and on the other hand, to petrol stations, gas stations and service stations. In other words, this series combines a reinterpretation of the Stations of the Cross with an enquiry into blood spilt in the pursuit of fossil fuels, armed conflicts in the name of oil. Other works from this series have previously been shown in iconic landmark venues, such as the Barbican, London, Trinity Wall Street, New York and de Hoftuin / Hermitage Museum, Amsterdam.
