On 22 March 2024, Dr. Yeewan Koon will host an artist talk with artist Zheng Chongbin at the Asia Art Archive, to delve into Zheng’s artistic practice and transformation from his experiments in contemporary ink art that synthesizes Chinese and Western explorations in calligraphy and gesture, to his video installations that manipulate transparency and light to explore how ephemeral changes can alter our perception of place.

 

Zheng Chongbin presents his all new monumental, immersive light installation “Immeasurable Things - Life flows within and without you” in his solo exhibition at Galerie du Monde, on view from 21 March - 1 June 2024.

 

About the speaker --

Professor Yeewan Koon is associate professor and Chair of the Department of Art History at the University of Hong Kong. She has published numerous works including Nara Yoshitomo (2020), “A Chinese Canton? Painting the Local in Export Art (2019) and A Defiant Brush: Su Renshan and the Politics of Painting in 19th Century Guangdong (2014). She is the recipient of several research awards including a Fulbright Senior Fellowship, American Council of Learned Scholars, and visiting scholarships at Cambridge University and Columbia University. Koon also works in the contemporary art field as a critic and curator.
