Galerie du Monde is pleased to announce the publication of "Spiritual Mountains: The Art of Wesley Tongson". This publication features various artworks by Hong Kong artist Wesley Tongson (1957-2012) on the 2022 exhibition "Spiritual Mountains: The Art of Wesley Tongson", held at the University of California, Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive (BAMPFA) from January to June 2022. Curated by BAMPFA's former Senior Curator of Asian Art Julia M. White, the exhibition explored the innovative ink paintings of Wesley Tongson and his mastery of traditional Chinese landscape painting techniques. This publication provides further insights into Tongson's experimental yet tradition-bound practice through various artworks featured in the exhibition, alongside comparisons to historical landscape paintings in BAMPFA's collection. This thoughtful catalogue honours his legacy and establishes his important contribution to the history of contemporary Chinese ink painting.
