Galerie du Monde is delighted to share artist Guanyu Xu is holding his solo exhibition "to be seen" at the Chinese American Museum of Chicago, US. Inspired by a Qing Dynasty imperial dragon robe on display in the museum,  Xu creates three new works and constructs a parallel instance between the unknown provenance of the dragon robe, the displacement of Chicago original Chinatown in the Loop, and the racist use of news images by media outlets in the beginning of the pandemic.

The exhibition serves as the fifth edition of the new initiative Spotlight Series. It aims to introduce, promote and celebrate the divergent artistic visions and experiences of being Chinese in America looking at and reflecting upon our relationship to contemporary visual culture to a wider audience within the community and Chicago.
