Orientations Magazine has published an extensive feature of the late Hong Kong artist Wesley Tongson’s upcoming solo exhibition at The Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive entitled “Spiritual Mountains”, curated by Julia White. Featuring iconic works by Tongson, across his various artistic stages. Additionally, curator Julia White will be creating dialogues between Tongson’s works and the BAMPFA’s collection of classical Chinese art, elaborating on Tongson’s transcendence in ink painting.

About author Dr. Rosaline Kyo

Dr. Kyo is the Assistant Professor of Art and Chinese Studies at Davidson College in the United States. Her research and teaching interests include the connections between art and politics; Chinese and Tibetan transcultural engagement; artistic processes, especially within collectives; and the representation of ethnic minorities and women in Chinese visual culture. In 2017, she was the Andrew W. Mellon Postdoctoral Curatorial Fellow at the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive, where she curated Master Traces, Transcultural Visions and Boundless: Transformations in Himalayan Art.
