Roland Biermann's white cube/white wall makes Chicago debut at CSI Project Space.

Dates: 18 October 2025 - 14 November 2025

Location: CSI Project Space, Chicago

Roland Biermann's white cube/white wall, a trilogy of short films examining the complex relationship between man-made borders and freedom of movement, is now on view at CSI Project Space. The presentation is part of the exhibition "Sculpture and Film", curated by Chris Wubenna, running concurrently with the 61st International Film Festival.

Since its premiere at gdm, Hong Kong in 2016, the trilogy has achieved a heightened relevance. In the years since, numerous new barriers have been erected worldwide—manifestations of both individual and collective anxiety, as well as instruments of political exclusion. The work's exploration of these themes resonates with particular urgency in today's geopolitical climate.
The exhibition brings together sculpture and moving image to investigate questions of space, boundary, and mobility that remain pressing in contemporary discourse.
