Phoebe Hui’s solo exhibition “The Garden of Resemblances”, will be presented by The Oil Street Art Space’s Oi! Spotlight program, in Hong Kong from 22 March to 31 August 2025.
Drawing inspiration from the 16th century Western medical concept of the "Doctrine of Signatures", Phoebe Hui observes the similarities between human and plant forms, and combines organic elements with artificial mechanisms to create a nebulous state between reality and illusion.
By transforming the exhibition space into a dreamlike, otherworldly environment, Hui blurs the boundaries between nature, technology, and imagination. The garden serves as an experiential landscape, inviting visitors to wander through a liminal space between the real and the imagined.
Integrating the organic with the mechanical, and the natural with the artificial, Hui’s installation offers a meditative journey—an opportunity to pause, breathe, and immerse oneself in a world of wonder. The exhibition becomes an inquiry into how we navigate these ever-changing frameworks of knowledge.
