Galerie du Monde is delighted to share that two of Wu Chi-Tsung’s Still Life video works have recently been added to the collection of the Santa Barbara Museum of Art.
The two videos of yellow-flowering plants, “Still Life 012 - Buttercup Tree” and “Still Life 014 - Yellow Mai Flower”, are currently featured in group exhibition “Mediated Nature” at the Ala Story Gallery of Santa Barbara Museum of Art. Video works from SBMA’s growing collection explore how the contemporary experience of nature has been shaped and influenced by current media technologies.
In the Still Life series, Wu captures the idea of “space deliberately left undone” – a vital if difficult-to-define conception integral to classical Chinese painting. He also brings the new media of video into new territory – the calming and genteel ambience of the classical Chinese landscape.
