R & M McGivern Prize 2019

Juan Ford is one the finalists for the R & M McGivern Prize 2019. Ford's painting "A Blossom Abated" will be featured in the exhibition at the ArtSpace at Realm and the Maroondah Federation Estate Gallery from November 23, 2019 to February 1, 2020.
The R & M McGivern Prize is held every three years, with a different theme each year. The prize for painting calls for artists across Australia to consider the impact of human habitation on the environment. A concept proposed by scientists to describe the current era, the Anthropocene directly translates to 'anthro' (human) and 'cene' (recent). It proposes that changes occurring within the environment may be a direct and permanent result of human behavior. The prize is acquisitive and the winning art work becomes part of the Maroondah City Council Art Collection.
