Once slated for demolition, the Treasure Hill Artist Village in Taipei revitalizes an illegal squatter settlement founded by Kuomintang military veterans at the end of the 1940s. As part of the community's annual "Treasure Hill Light Festival", Kou Tak-Leong's site-specific installation Sometimes in Shadow  reconfigures the dilapidated ruins of a building to explore the shifting borders between urban spaces and their peripheries. Through the considered placement of a one-way mirror, and LED lights that periodically switch on and off, the building fades in and out of obscurity. Like a ghost architecture, the installation imagines a timeline in which the building is demolished, contrasting it with its current state of preservation.
