The Peninsula - 2025 Art in Resonance

Phoebe Hui’s public art commission, Lunar Rainbow, will debut in Hong Kong this March at the Peninsula Hotel.

Phoebe Hui has been selected as a feature artist for The Peninsula’s 2025 Art in Resonance flagship program, in partnership with the esteemed Victoria and Albert Museum.

Her largest artwork to date, Lunar Rainbow pays homage to the moon, a powerful symbol of resilience and hope. This large-scale celestial-themed installation on The Peninsula’s façade features fragmented images of the moon digitally printed on aluminum panels, created through a custom program that traces the evolution of lunar imagery from 17th century scientific moon drawings to contemporary open-source archives, blending the past with the present through a contemporary lens.

Phoebe Hui is a media artist and researcher exploring interdisciplinary ideas drawn from the philosophy of science, astronomy and machine learning. Her recent projects include: “Oi! Spotlight: The Garden of Resemblances”, Oil Street Art Space, Hong Kong (2025); “No Boundaries: Reinterpreting Palace Museum Culture”, Hong Kong Palace Museum (2022-23); “The Moon is Leaving Us”, Audemars Piguet Art Commission, Tai Kwun, Hong Kong (2021).
