Discover Masterpieces Born in Times of War and Violence at Frieze Seoul 2024
Frieze Masters returns to Frieze Seoul this year (4-7 September 2024) with a prominent theme of global history of war and violence. Across different historical periods and geographic regions, the featured artists have shown how times of turmoil and upheaval have often given birth to influential cultural movements. These include the rise of Abstract Expressionism, as well as technical innovations that have revolutionized the classic medium of ink on paper.
Liu Kuo-Sung's reinvention of the use of ink, brush and textures revolutionized the traditional medium while Wesley Tongson combined classical ink traditions with Western Pictorial abstraction, painting with his own hands without a brush. gdm is proud to present both masters at Frieze Masters.
